A week or so ago one of the door protector strips "fell" off the rear of my
1990 90q. So I spent a bit of time with a solvent removing the remaining
glue and rubber, and decided the car looked quite good without it. So I then
started to remove the front door strip with nothing but brute force.... Bad
move......
Of course I forgot the fact that my car had been resprayed, and it appears
preparation was not the most important aspect of the job. Left behind was
the original audi paint, great... but on top of which was several coats of
primer, topcoat and lacquer, some of which had decided its adhesion to the
glue was better than that off the factory paint job.
So I started on filling, flattening and painting the lower half of the side
of my car. Coming along quite nicely. Car is just filled and flattened at
this moment, but I used a new filler I have not seen before, from isopon, its
loaded with metal and it polishes up quite well, so I should need minimal
primer. Hopefully get 1 side finished this week.
