Too rich 5kcstq after reassembly

Barry,
As long as your distributor is set so hall is "in window" the ECU does the rest, adjusting timing etc. With that said, I would try to make sure that the distributor is set dead in the middle of the window - with all else TDC(cam and crank/flywheel and verify #1 piston is TDC) it is good then to line up the rotor so it is pointing to the #1 spark lead on the cap.
With everything you did, I would expect that you would be running rich. You eliminated som vacuum leaks right? You will likely have to lean things out - use Huw's procedure, or as I do adjust mixture with 3mmallen key 'til engine running at highest and smoothest idle, then lean about 1/4 counter-clockwise turn for best fuel economy. I have found this generally get things right where the meter will, and last time I did it the car passed with 0% CO content and low CO2.

Okay, that's kinda what I thought.
How sensitive is the ignition timing anyway? If I'm off the timing by a
single tooth on the timing belt, or by a couple of degrees on the
distributor, is it possible that I could get that too-rich, won't-idle
condition?
I'm starting to think my timing may not be the issue, at least not the
whole issue...
Probably time to recheck my vacuum hoses.
How do you adjust the mixture on one of these engines, anyway?
Thanks again.
