competition - guess the 5KTQ ICE race failure?

Hi All

Well here's a challenge for you all.....

I took my 5KTQS Ice Racing last Sunday at Newfound Lake with the crew from
Boston Bimmer. Along with its fabulous new Bilestien suspens and lowered
springs (Thanks Chris at Force 5 for all youre work on that)

I was having an awesome day, sun was shining (in between rain showers),
the track was incredible. The new suspension is a joy (man what a huge
improvement)

Did a couple of races, then got out on the practice track for some serious
drifting fun (I will upload photos and video to my website tonight
probably)

Then I smelled a nasty acrid burning smell, and lost most of my boost. The
car was topping out at 1.0 boost on the in dash gauge and 0psi on my aux
pillar gauge. it was struggling to get past 4000rpm. I could hear a
strange whistling sound when it was trying to make boost, sort of a high
pitch wavering whine.

Outside of that, off boost the car runs fine, no smoke, just no HP.

I stopped, popped the hood and found the silicone hose I had used to seal
the turbo test pipe had melted, hence the smell. so I replaced it with
another hose I had as a temp solution (I will weld it up this weekend).
Went out to test it - no improvement so back into the paddock.

I then found the new silicone line to the decel shut off valve had kinked,
then ruptured (I was beating on her pretty hard). so I repaired that -
more tests, no improvement. I racked my brains for another hour, but
couldnt find anything wrong. I didnt want to lie down under the car in the
2" of slush on top of the 17" of ice, so after my 5th race run I decided
to cut my losses and start the 2 hour drive home.

The car drove fine apart from no boost past 0psi, no HP.

I have not had a chance to open the hood since then due to work
requirements, and will eb investigating at teh weekend.

I am thinking the following;

1. maybe I popped the end off my intercooler a bit and its leaking , hence
the noise and the ability to make a bit of boost.

2. maybe I cooked more hoses I have not found yet?

3. maybe I split a High pressure hose somewhere.

4. Maybe I got the turbo so damned hot (it was very hot) I did some damage
there.

5. Maybe I cooked my wastegate diaphragm, or the wastegate is stuck a
crack open somehow.

6. Maybe something screwed up in the computer and its stuck in some sort
of limp mode (not pulled codes yet as I didnt have any reference with me
on the ice so no point)

or maybe its something else I aint thought of yet?

If anyone has any ideas or has had a similar experience, some pointers
would be appreciated to save me time at teh weekend.

Cheers
