Fun with parts identification

Now riddle me this, caped crusaders.

What are these two things for here ('87 5kcstq):

I'm guessing the top item is probably the outside air temperature sensor?
I have no idea what the plastic accordion-thingy is for though.

And this:

Appears to be a mercury switch.  It fell off the car from somewhere when 
I rolled off an autocarrier and didn't stab the brakes hard enough.  No 
damage to the garage, broken trim parts and dented hood on the Audi. 
 F*ck.  But this glass vial with a drop of mercury in it fell out of 
somewhere.  Is it a tip-over switch?  Where does it go?
