[Fwd: type 44-Erroneous brake pad light]

The autocheck circuit sources 12 volts which as you know is grounded by
the completed circuit thru the brake pads.
If all is well (continuity thru both sets of pads) you should be able to
lift your newly created ground and measure 12 volts. Typically the
wiring which connects the driver's side pad tot the passenger's side pad
breaks where the wires enter the engine compartment at the fender well.
I chased a similar problem and finally just ran new wires. I spliced the
new wire into the original one from the autocheck box.

I've attempting a fix on this, as follows:
Auto ck light, for pads, comes on at startup or shortly after-only when
outside temp is below 50F
There is plenty of meat on the pads.
According to SJM site and wiring diagram (as I read it) the auto ck
system
will respond to a break in the circuit. Wire (I beleive) runs from auto
ck unit
thru left pad to right pad and then grounded. I have eliminated the
lines that
pass thru the pads and connected the 2 wires together on each side,
eliminating the pads from the circuit-light still on.
I've been been unable to actually trace where this grounds out on the
right
side-seems to be under a heat shield. So I ran a fresh ground to this
circuit-still get the pad light.
Since it only happens at lower temps I'm wondering about a loose
connection
or solder joint somewhere. Any suggestions?
