traffic woes and laws

Ok I just had a comment about citizen reports - I for
one do not want arrests to be made and guilt assumed
just because of a report of my or other citizens.
Don't forget there are tons of morons on both sides of
the fence.
That being said, I feel your pain - I live in the DFW
area and driving here is an experience better left
untouched. 3-4-5 lane highways with mixed driving
speeds of 45mph to 85mph, and mixed styles from
scared-to-be-alive to aggressive as a nascar driver.
And most of the aggressive drivers seem to be driving
Ford F350 diesels...crazy.
But forget about your desire to kill them - lets be
more creative. The law obviously can't catch all the
a$$es out there, and in fact only seems to focus on my
when I'm driving safely albeit 10 over...
So here's an idea for a helpful, safe device. This
device will be intended to be attached to the culprits
car. The device will have two main functionalities.
Firstly it will have speed sensing ability, primarily
a knowledge of when the car is coming to a stop and/or
is stopped. You may know what's coming next. The
second main function of this device (and arguably, THE
purpose of this device) would be to create an
electromagnetic pulse. Ideally this would be local
only, so only the car that the device is attached to
is affected.
So now, we have a device, but how do we deliver the
device to the culprit's (moving) car? Think
paintballs. A paintball will be harmless if it misses
the intended target, and will be harmless to the car
itself (no body or paint damage). So we develop a
sticky substance for the paintball, that will have a
good bursting/spreading/sticking set of properties.
Likewise the device will have to be small enough and
robust enough to handle the projectile and impact
phase of delivery.
So then how does the device become armed? Remote?
Maybe it should have the ability to ground to the car?
Too many possibilities and this is just a silly email
:)
I think this idea would actually be a very good one
for law enforcement so that they don't have to engage
in dangerous car chases. Arguable any perp will run
harder when being chased. Don't chase him, he won't
run. Embed a tracking device on his car and meet him
at his destination. Or employ the electromagnetic
pulse idea and shut him down (dangers there -
especially at speed)
Anyway I'll shut up now and get back to my real, and
boring, job.
