It's easy using a lift to simply use those points, yes.

The trouble is for us folks who still haven't bought ours - first we 
need to jack up a corner, using the jack point - then we have to find a 
place for the jackstand!  Which should, of course, go at that same point.

Which is what leads to the subframe jacking technique.  I'd like to find 
somewhere in my manuals that warning about doing it.  Hard to see what 
it could mess up.
