85 4Kq fuel pump

That's actually not a bad idea at all, being that in the past 2 weeks it worked, then didn't, then did again, and currently doesn't work.  Will also check the voltages at the wires before I bite the bullet and get a new one.

I really appreciate everyone's input and will let you know what happens.

With my old VW Rabbit my pump started to act up at one point.  The pump 
on that car is just behind the passenger side door and right in front of 
the tire.  When my car would not start I would leave the key in the on 
position.  Get out and walk around to that side of the car.  I would 
give the pump a swift kick and it would start humming along.  Of course 
one day it decided it had lived long enough.

In short if it is the pump you might be able to milk along a little 
longer, but eventually you'll have to bite the bullet.
