All my cars have been MN/WI cars... I think 13 years is about the limit
for the headliners no matter what climate you're in.

I have had good luck with clear siliconized latex caulk. Comes in
something vaguely resembling a tube of toothpaste, you can get it at the
hardware store. Cut a small slit in the headliner and squirt just
enough in. If you use too much, some of it will leak through the fabric
and make it look funny (not discolored, just like something's been
spilled on it). Smooth the headliner fabric around, with practice you
can make the small slit you put in the headliner virtually invisible.
