90 20v q dizzy replacement

i am gonna fit a new dizzy to the car this weekend, i would welcome any btdt, i understand that provided the dizzy is in right it should fire up ok without any messing with setting the timing up with a light as it's all done by the ecu, am i right on this ???? BTW an exhange unit from audi comes complete with metal gear, cap and rotor.
