check engine light

I don't know if this works in the newer cars, but in the older ones (my
'88) there's a fuse you can trip which will read out the engine code for
you. I think I found the fuse number in the Bentley (which I don't have
with me; I'm at work). A 5 amp, if I remember.

It's been a while since I've done this (I used to have to do it on an
annual basis), but as I recall the dash light displayed the code by
blinking a series of times. I watched the display for a while to make sure
I had the right sequence of flashes, then I looked the code up on an
error list.

In my case it was always the O2 sensor, and since I've finally figured out
why I'm toasting the sensor, I now ignore my check engine light (_most_ of
the time &:-)). Sorry to not be more helpful.

'88 80Q currently with check engine light on and a slightly roasted O2
sensor from driving race gas; I'll replace the sensor when the engine
management gets _really_ obnoxious...
