hood latch question

Helps if you identify the year/model. On Type 44's, the hood release cable
pulls on levers that are exposed and pulls them each toward the center of
the core support. You can get to them from under the vehicle. On our
4kq, the driver side latch moves toward the center and the passenger side
moves toward the passenger side headlight. The cable on the 4k is just
under the front lip of the core support. It must "turn a corner" on the
passenger side. I've read here that you may be able to push on the 4k
cable through the grille using a flat-bladed screwdriver.
