I can't speak to your 2.3 head, but I do know that an MC head will not 
go on a KH block without modification.  BTDT.  I would be surprised if 
the 2.3 head would go on an '83 block without effort.

The "machining" required for the oil drain back line is easy.  Worse 
case situtation you use AN fittings into the side of your oil pan.  The 
oil squirters would be a loss, but get the piston tops ceramic coated 
and you will make back up most of the difference I would think.
