how to safely work under your car

True, Dave, but just because you are poor doesn't mean you have to be
stupid. If you look carefully at the picture, you'll note the 4x4s are
sitting at an angle on hard asphalt. His back is against one of them. If he
suddenly moves back for some reason (pants catch on fire, gas tank catches
fire), there is a good chance he will knock out one or both of the supports
and end up bench pressing the truck. There are safer ways of supporting a
truck without ramps or a lift.

Come on, Brett, those are 4x4s, not 2x4s - that's got to be twice as safe!
How else is he going to get under there to weld up that gas tank?

Sheesh - what a Darwin Award candidate!

Please rememeber that the picture was taken an a poor 3rd world country. In
conditions like those...having any running vehicle is considered ablessing
and they do whatever they have to to keep them running. They work with what
they have. 2 4x4s is MORE than enough to support that truck like that. Not
everyone has the luxury of having a lift or even ramps...
