I wouldn't.

I know it's a pain but you're best getting into the bottom pulley and making 
certain that the key isn't there. Turning the engine over with a foreign 
body inside the timing belt cover runs the risk of damaging the belt - worst 
case would be that the key ricochets around for a while, days/weeks/months 
and then wrecks the belt when you're doing 4000 revs.
