But there is a bundle of wires in that general area, going
from the door jamb through the rubber boot into the door.
Some of those wires are broken from flexing with age. Pull
back the boot, find the broken wires, then splice in about
a foot (30cm) of new wire. Poke the spliced ends into the
door and jamb, so the new wire does the flexing.
