If you turn on your car after a 12 hour sit and just let it run does it
eventually start running OK? If so, how long does it take? And at the point
that it starts running OK, what is your coolant temp gauge showing?
This I think will help troubleshoot the issue.

Subject: type 44 question (5k/100/200)
car is a '86 5kT. first of all, thanks for those who helped with the
radiator questions..i couldnt find a metal end one..so i just went with
OEM..
hopefully it will last another 10 yrs. car runs alot cooler, and fan doesnt
come on
all the time. i must have had some blockage in the old one.
anyway im having a prob with rough idle when i first start it in the
morning.
i removed and cleaned the ISV , didnt help..i replaced the ISV with one
from
one of the 86-91 VW Vanagons i had laying around (yea the type44 uses the
exact same ISV as a 86-91 Vanagon!) and that didnt help either..
problem is this:
start car, and rpm's drop real low, idles like crap..continues to do so
until
i shut it off, then i restart, and it idles fine. its just that initial
time i start it, it idles crappy. its like shutting it off and restarting
it is
resetting something.. any ideas? injectors leaking down? cold start valve?
i dont have a problem at all during the rest of the day, car starts fine,
its
just when it sits for more than 12 or so hours.. anyone know?
any help is appreciated..
