Emergency Brake Adjustment

The emergency brake on my 1990 80Q is in need of tightening.  When I pull up the handle, I have to really yank at it to get the emergency brake to hold as well as it used to.  The caliper is fine, as I changed it several months ago, and it is something I've done before w/o any trouble w/ the emergency brake afterward.  Does anyone have any tips on tightening the cable?  TIA.
