Jonathan,
I've talked to the folks at Ultima Cars and they swear the GTR will work
with an Audi V8. It would have to be adapted to the Porsche gearbox if you
did.

There was the Isotta Fraschini T8 built around the A8 drivetrain.

Prior to that was the Zender Fact-4 that utilized the 3.6l V8.

Ital Design used the 20V turbocharged I5 in the Aztec.

Guigiaro (Ital Design) also had a concept vehicle called Structura on
display at the Pebble Beach Concours in 1998. It was built around the Audi
A8Q drivetrain, but they also displayed it with the W12 later in it's life.
Unfortunately for him, they put it on display between the Bentley Hunadieres
& Mercedes/McLaren SLR. It wasn't one of his best efforts anyway.
I'm not sure if you want to consider any of Walter Tresser's cars as kits,
but many were based on Audis. His restyled Type-44 & Type-85 sedans weren't
too bad, but he really botched the UrQ by cutting off it's roof. Regardless
of how obscure his UrQ cabriolet looked, it's got to be better than ANYTHING
that's based on a Fiero!
I'm sure there's many more, but these were the ones I could come up with
from my own memory. I seem to remember something about an Audi named
"Quartz" that was based on the UrQ, but I can't remember who built it. For
all I know it might've been from Ingolstadt! If anyone else can think of
more, I'd like to see links to detailed information.
~Mark
