I have a 97 a6 Quattro. On the quattro there is a plug in the center of the pan when the transmission is up to temp oil is filled in the tube till it flows out is my understanding. I had the transmission flush done at 80k with filter to be on the safe side. I have always been concearned over the transmission on this car since it never shifted smoothly since I purchased it at just under 16k miles. I have approx 110k miles on it now. I have always been told that is how the quattro tranny works.
