Ok,, always use double or more lips,, never use cheap one lip seal....

Use Viton oil seals,,, they are brown and they cost about 8 x than the cheap black ones... they last much longer. They can resiste more for the highter temperature, they are stronger.

Viton seals are use on the driving shaft tranny output , and the rear diff input.

The seal MUST be parallele to the surface with the right tool. Som just put them with an hammer but it ll not be paralle so they ll last shorter...

Subject: Crankshaft Seal Help Requested ASAP

I am changing the crank seal on my 5TQ (for the second time!). The first
replacement a month ago leaks more than it did before.
I have the proper special tool.
I have two genuine Audi seals that are the correct size according to SJM.
The problem is one seal has a single sealing lip, the other has two sealing
    lips.
The old one had one sealing lip.
The question is which one do I use: one lip or two?????
Also any ideas why the first new replacement still leaks.

I am taking the car apart as I write..
    Thanks in advance.

    Ian
