Appart from the initial lubrication, the grove on the shaft would affect
the life of the seal and should be smoothened out by using fine abrasive
paper (600, 800 +) and only radial turning motion. If the groove is to
deep, the seal should be inserted to different depth to avoid the
groove. If that isn't possible, then the seal spring could be tightened.
