Hi,
I saved the trouble by buying stainless steel wheel hangers.

I use them to hang the rotor when I change them out.  I use them to  put on 
the wheels, of course.  Makes the whole job easier.
 
I thought about wheel studs, but for me I figured it was more trouble and  
cost.  Both sets of wheels I use are ball type. But for one set I need  to use 
spacers.  Not much but just enough.  One set of wheels  also has exposed lugs.  
With the hanger I can still use the longer  lugs for the wheels that don't 
need the spacers.  If I had studs, I  would not have the option of using acorn 
nuts.  Then the  wheel without a lug cover would have exposed studs.  Cool if 
you are a  racer, not if you run a street car.
