replacing steering rack

Geting ready to replace a remanufacted steering rack in a 88 5ktq . Have
rack ready ....any and all ideas ,tips, pointers on performing the
operation would be greatly appriciated . My neighbor mechanic has only
experience working on my audi and this is a first for him and want to
make it as easy as possible on him .  Please advise asap .. Thanks bob
p.s. do we have to put on a new lockplate ? anything else .....have a
case of hydralic fluid also on hand .
