The Bentley manual for my old VW Scirocco with a 1.8L lists the same 35C
requirement, but also recognizes that there may be a need to check it cold
and provides numbers for both.
Engine Warm
intake..................... 0.20 - 0.30 mm (.008 - .012 in.)
exhaust.................. 0.40 - 0.50 mm (.016 - .020 in.)
Engine Cold
intake..................... 0.15 - 0.25 mm (.006 - .010 in.)
exhaust.................. 0.35 - 0.45 mm (.014 - .018 in.)
