Coolant loss - Preliminary result

First, thanks to all listers for your input and opinions.  The wealth of knowledge makes owning an older Audi much easier.

I pressure tested the system again, up to 15 psi warm and running.  Lookeded for leaks, watched the gauge and everything looked pretty good.  At that point I was disgusted, and resolved to having the head removed.  Unhooked the tester and buttoned her up.

Ten minutes later the wife took the car and there on the driveway was a PUDDLE!  Right under where the water pump would have been.  Talked to the mechanic, he has seen pump seals weep before and suggested replacing the pump.  Much cheaper than a head gasket and better to fix it on my schedule, not the pump's.
