Audi Child Seat safety seminar on October 15 in Marlboro, MA
Audi of America is working to train dealership personnel in the proper use and installation of car seats, including infant seats, child seats, booster seats, and the newer "LATCH" mounting system.
>From my contact with the training group in Marlborough, MA I was approached by Anne Jerzewski of Program Professionals, Inc. She's running a training program for dealership personnel at the training center on Friday, October 15, 2004, and asked me to get some Audi drivers to come by with their kids and kid seats. Audis work best since these are Audi techs, but any type of car is fine; looking for around 30 cars with kids.
There is no cost to participate, and you do not have to be a member of NEQ/ACNA. If you are interested in attending, please email me at chris.miller at infofoundry.com. We are not taking appointments (first come first served), but I'd like to have a feel for how much interest and how many people might attend (plus I can email you good directions).

She's got some good info on their web site; here's an excerpt:
'Motor vehicle crashes remain the leading cause of death and acquired disability for children between the ages of 4 and 8 years. Safety advocates call this group the "Forgotten Child" because, until recently, public policy did not adequately protect them. As of April 2004, nearly half of state laws require child restraints only through age 4. The American Academy of Pediatrics and the U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration have long recommended belt-positioning booster seats for children who have outgrown child safety seats with harnesses, but state laws have led many parents to believe that seat belt restraint is sufficient once the child reaches 4 years. Many parents are not aware of the importance of belt positioning booster seats in protecting their children.'...
(about 500 "forgotten children" die a year; that's like two 747s full of kids).
'Sit Safe events have also provided education to hundreds of parents and caregivers. Our misuse findings have been well over 90% at these events. We have encountered some pretty interesting and noteworthy examples of gross misuse including children arriving in their restraints -- but the restraints not attached to the vehicle! We've also seen one infant arrive in a household carrier!'...
