Hi everyone - We got out deisel truck . . . towed my Audi and Jim drove his.
I drove the truck the entire way from CT to Flagstaff, AZ. A few notable incidents. The first time we got fuel we found the truck 3 quarts, yes THREE quarts low. The next day we checked the tires and they had HALF of the air they needed !!! I had trouble with the front end of the truck and and I mentioned it to my hubby and he said it was the "wavy roads" ;-) But it drove so much better.
The worst part is the next day the cruise control stuck at about 65 mph and I almost rear ended an 18-wheeler. I sprained my ankel from hitting the brake repeated so hard to free it up. My husband was driving behind me in his Audi and wondered what was wrong . . . "I said did you notice the breaks lights were on while I was accelerating down hill?"
I was so shook up I was nauseous. Needless to say my foot hurt the entire drive across the country.
They really did not give us enough time to load a truck (we are not professional drivers, nor did we hire profeessionals to help us load). They gave us ten days. It took us 2.5 days to load, we left at 7 p.m. on Wed. and drove til 1:30 a.m. We left again at 5 a.m. each day and one day I drove 16 hours in one day across TX, OK, and NM to try to gain some time. We still did not arrive in Flagstaff until late Monday night.
We are both totally exhausted and are trying to find a place to live so that we don't have to unload the truck, and then in a few days rent another one, load again and then unload yet again.
Any suggestions for negotiating with Pensky for extra days would be much appreciated.
Thanks !
Anyone on the list living in Sedona or Flagstaff area ?
Cheers, Fay
and Jim
