I bought a Blaupunkt CD player, highly rated (hah) and with excellent
specs (I was most interested in the FM tuner and CD S/N ratios) from
Crutchfield. After MONTHS of struggling with issues with integrating
it with the Bose system and what I thought were problems with the
Soundgate adapter, the CD mechanism jammed.

Taking the unit apart, what do I discover? The main power capacitors
in back had leaked electrolyte all over the PCB.

The thing was built like a cheap tonka toy, stuck out about a half
inch from the dash, had a lousy display and an annoying user
interface.

In case you haven't figured it out, I will never buy another
Blaupunkt product again, nor will I deal with Crutchfield again.
Their answer was "sorry, no returns, call Blaupunkt". Yeah, that's
customer service. Too bad I didn't live in MA at the time, or I
would have hauled them to small claims court under the implied
merchantability regs (under which it is both the vendor's and
manufacturer's responsibility).

PS:what's with the subject change? Now we have two threads and the
archives will be all messed up...please don't do that :-)
