Bearing race chipped on install (was: Wheel bearing circlips?)

well, I've had it for a week :)

So far -Great-.

Now, the caveat is that there is a harbor freight retail store about 10
minutes from my house, and they're open until 7 or 8 pm weekdays. So the
leap of faith I made is much shorter than what most HF customer would need
to do :)

Generally, the harbor freight stuff is ok, for what you've paid. I don't
think you'll find such a beefy floor standing press anywhere else for less
than 2x the price. So in that sense, it really doesn't matter how "good" it
is - in my case, so far, it's been good enough to do the job, and there's
really no way to do what it does without having something like it.

Harbor freight doesn't sell any snap ring / circlip pliers that are good
enough to do the 75mm snap rings for the bearings, though. That's the first
tool I've bought from them that was disappointing. OTOH, it was $1.99, and
I returned it, horribly bent, and told them it was garbage. They refunded
my money.

Based on your experience thus far, do you recommend the H.F. press. I have
been toying with the Harbor Freight offering(s) for some time now.

I've watched the wheel bearing discussion with some.. Interest.. As I've
just pushed old ones out and 2 new ones in (After damaging a 3rd) on my
early build type89 Q.

I bought the 12T H-frame press from harbor freight for $99, and had a
machine shop cut me a 2 and 15/16s dia steel disc 1/2 thick (they had 2 &
15/16s rod stock lying around, if you can believe that :). This works great
for the 75mm type 89 bearings.
