87.5 CGT Panhard Rod -- bent or straight?

I was comparing the rear suspenstions of my '86 parts coupe and my '87.5.
While the '86 and my old '85 parts car (R.I.P.) had straight panhard rods,
the 87.5 has a bend. The rod runs diagonally backward from the body
mounting point to a point about 3/4 the way across the axle, then bends
about 10-12 deg and runs perfectly parallel to the axle until the end
mounting point.
I took the rod out, measured it, examined it, (sniffed it, tasted it...) and
everything seems kosher. This does not look like this is something that
'happened'--it looks like a factory bend. In fact if it were straight, it
seems to me it would end up being about 2" too long
ETKA and Bentley show nothing.
Can anyone confirm or deny that the 87.5 has a panhard rod with a 'dog leg'
in it?
