My fuss is easy to understand. The car shifted and I didn't tell it to.
It's (according to my preference) broken.
That's a fine feature to have. Just let me turn it off. Easily.
Now, if it lets you bounce off the limiter a few times before shifting,
that's probably less obnoxious.
I suspect you've watched enough racing to know that just because you've
bounced off the limiter once doesn't mean "hey, I'll just upshift!"

Yeah ? I rode in an early production SMG M3 for the specific purpose of
trying to see what it was like. I'd probably prefer a manual because
downshifting under braking was jerky and if I practiced a lot, I could do it
better. I wouldn't by any means say I "hated" it.
Don't think of this as a "DSG vs. the World" problem, or like you are
obligated to defend Audi at all costs. I'm just opining that I dislike it
when automakers design systems that think for me. I have come to accept my
limited cognitive abilities, and get by perfectly fine on my own, thanks :)
