I prefer no to wait until the car runs like poop to replace basic 
tune-up parts.  Of course, this means having a rough idea of when to 
either simply replace them, or at least start checking them.
Rather than answer your question, how about seeing if I did when I wrote

OK, I'd say your wires should be good for 50-75k miles, the cap and 
rotor like being changed at 20k or so, and the plugs will depend on 
design and conditions.
Ideally, one removes and replaces a good working part *just before* it 
starts affecting the way the car runs.  Of course, that would be magic...
