Wanted to thank Cobram, Bob D, Huw, Mark Besso, and Tom Winter for
their helpful replies off-list on this one. Lack of time prevailed
and due to a necessary early AM departure, it's "what he's got" that
will have to do, but if anyone finds themselves in similar shoes,
best route is probably to talk to a local dealer (Ford/Dodge/GMC); it
looks like none of the national rental companies consistently rent
pickups with diesels- virtually none of them list pickups on their
websites, and those that do, its the smallest pickups only- Rangers,
Durangos, and F150's.

Ford sorta wins for having a website under their fleet division
(found via google) for showing the available vehicles for rent at
dealerships (I could find nothing similar for any other
manufacturer), and the vehicle guide seemed to indicate F250 and
F350's are rented by dealers, but apparently not by several in my
area.

Not the end of the world- I noticed this evening diesel isn't nearly
as cheap as I thought it was, so aside from annoyance issues and
'keeping up with the crowd', it's not a big deal.

Thanks again folks,
Brett
