Problem 1 - NO SPARK! so, i went thru the Bentley and tested the hall
sender, coil, plug wires, position reference sensor and all related wiring
and all came out ok... checked for pin on flywheel - present! checked and
rechecked TDC. To be obsessive, I ran my distributor and ECU in my '86 5KTQ
and they checked out fine and even further, put the ones from the '86 into
the '88 and tried it and - NOTHING. I grabbed a coil from a junkyard and
installed it with no resolve (however i have no idea that it is even any
good either) So, I have yet to put the coil from my 86 in and retry.

First thing I'd check is for 12V on the positive side of the coil with the
key on and also cranking. Them, check for switching voltage
(12V-GND-12V-GND-....) on the neg side of the coil. These can both be
checked with a 12V bulb of some sort (test light, bulb w/wires soldered, old
bulb socket, etc.). If power is missing, check the fuse box and ign switch.
If you are missing switching, check the ign control unit for power, and make
sure none of your connectors have corrosion in them. The Ignition control
unit should be inside the drivers side kick panel.
