Sobering VW Article?

David, the Touareg at least makes some sort of sense from a practicality perspective (well, if you consider SUV's practical, which I don't really..........) whereas with the Phaeton, it seems like it's only purpose is to cannibalize A8 sales.... which apparently it isn't..... Someone made the point earlier in this thread about the VW and Audi model lines and how they seem to be overlapping. The new Jetta and Passat seem to be more A4/A6-like than ever, so I really don't understand what is going on here.

then explain why the touareg is selling so well? as the
article states, the phaeton has failed becuase it was bady
conceived, not because it is a "premium vw". the touareg is
clearly a premium vw and they can't make enough of them.
also, despite all the doom and gloom, the new golf is
europe's best selling car. again.
the real issue is that, without the new golf and touareg,
the product mix is in a slump and only the new car releases
will help.
