Help on changing belts on '89 200Q

I found on my 200q20v that I barely had enough movement of the A/C bracket,
despite loosening all the fasteners and having the geared adjuster totally
off, to put on a Conti belt. Had to "encourage" it with a screwdriver to
get it in place on the A/C pulley. I had the adjuster off because I was
replacing the worn out teeth with a new assembly.
