yeah don't want to let the facts get in the way of a good
story, but as i said in reply to jon, if you really look at
the bmw's usa sales figures, (the overall figures that jon
has reported only excluded the mini) bmw sales of their
bread and butter sedans are all flat or declining (z-series
down, 3-series down, 5-series level, 7-series down).
they have gained because they have exploited market niches
(6-series, x3, mini) to excellent effect through....
that is the lesson for vw in the usa. in europe, as i have
said, the golf is the best selling car, and their play with
niche vehicles (e.g. diesel) is better.
