Fuel leak/tank overflow, type 44

Take a look in the trunk. Pull the carpet at the back of the trunk to expose 
the cover plate for the tank access. Remove the 3 screws and take the cover 
plate off. You will see the top of the fuel tank pump and sender assembly. If 
you see any fuel there, one of the 3 hose connections might be loose. I would 
try to tighten them anyway just to make sure. One hose will be a banjo fitting 
and the other 2 are regular hose clamps. The one with the banjo fitting, take a 
look to see if the crush washers are assembled correctly. There should be two 
washers, one above and below the banjo fitting with the banjo bolt going 
through them. With the other 2 hoses with the hose clamps, remove the hoses and 
inspect the nipple the hose slips over. Make sure that isn't cracked. Since the 
car is new to you and you filled up the tank, I'm guessing that you were 
exploring the boundaries of your car by doing a little spirited driving :) There is 
a rubber O-ring under the pump/sender assembly. If that is missing or 
damaged, or the sender assembly is not installed correctly, the fuel sloshing around 
in the tank when full would spill out and give the impression of a fuel leak.
