Perhaps a flaky ground or connector/wiring harness problem that is 
causing a connect/disconnect somewhere as the motor shifts?

What are duty cycle readings on the ISV and other control valves 
during this?  What is behavior with the ISV unplugged?

All engine fuses OK?
