Surely a horrible experience for that man and his family.
So the positive battery terminal lacked the red plastic cover to prevent this?
The OEM batteries have one, end snaps into two tiny holes.
I can see this happening:
Metal under seat springs EXPOSED resting inches above the terminals.
Heavy rear seat occupants..............yaddy yaddi yadda..
Probably a few variables that may swing this case.
1985 car.
Battery original?
OEM replacement?
Proper vented battery? (probably means nothing)
How about a cover over the battery top?
Just thinking out loud..
