Fusing the fan?

I think it all goes through the fuse box, however there are some very stout
connectors and wiring for that circuit. Depending on options, there
are several models of radiator fan motors used (of differing power draw),
and also the fan suck a much larger amount of current when starting than
steady state running. As the fan ages, the current draw also increases
somewhat. To prevent blowing the fuse when nothing is wrong, Audi saw
fit to use a fuse that is rated quite high. It should still provide
the needed protection should a real short circuit occur (or more likely, a
seized fan motor causing a large current draw).
