Vintage American Iron vs. Vintage German Iron in Ventura

This has been a biggie over on the 914 club list. I was there, leaving just
before the incident. I do the swap meet every year. The truck was heading
south to LA and Orange County, and should have gone south along the tracks 2
blocks to the onramp, which is a slight veer to the left at the next
intersection, going UNDER the tracks. The way he was headed, he had to make
a left over the tracks, an immediate right after crossing them and passing
under the freeway, drive 2 blocks parallel to the freeway, then make a right
at the 2nd signal, then a final left after he crossed back over the freeway.
The signs posted BEFORE he made that first turn direct drivers going NORTH
to follow the path he started. Southbound drivers are directed to go south
along the access road. The City of Ventura has the fairgrounds traffic all
figured out, having major events often, and it's a big OTB satellite
facility. It's so well thought out that exiting traffic flows really well
compared to most such places I've seen. This Bozo is clearly 100% in the
wrong. BTW, 3 of the cars were the consignees, 2 were customer cars for
sale. He bought the 911 and the T6 coupe at the event. It's a fairly good
bet the hauler was moonlighting from his regular job as an auction hauler,
IMO. Prolly bonded, but maybe not to the $600-800K needed to make this
right ........... John
