Some questions on safe boost to run on a 1.8T

Hi Guys,

A friend is getting a 2005 A4 with 1.8T motor. I had a few questions for
gearheads on the board.

First, what is the stock max boost of the car?
What boost controllers are available, which work well?
What are *safe* boost levels on the stock fuel system?
Other than the K&N, are there any simple/cheap power upgrades that can be
done to the car?

I would love to squeeze another 20-30HP out of the motor with under $500. In
my experience with turbo motors, this should not be too hard to do.

Suggestions??
