Running too hot

My '89 100Q will run a bit too hot, the gauge stays at almost 100 degrees
(C), even when doing highway driving. This sometimes causes the radiator fan
to cycle even when doing 55-60 mph, which I think is rather useless. My
other Audis stayed just below 90 degrees at normal conditions, which makes
sense when the thermostat is 87 degrees. Not using AC, the ambient
temperature here is between 5 and 15 degrees now. (all Celsius, of course)
I have changed thermostat and flushed the cooling system, but that did no
difference at all..Air flow through condenser/radiator looks unobstructed,
so I guess that only leaves me with a bad radiator? Any other tips?
