Thanks to all of you who sent destructions on how to do this! I used the
Bentley and pulled the steering wheel and instrument cluster to get at the
ignition switch. The center guts of the plastic piece -- which to me looks
like a fancy fuse -- is cracked and separated at the point where it looks
like a connector comes out.
You'll laugh... I have a MOMO steering wheel that I did not install. When
I got to the point where the Bentley said to pull the steering column
housing forward to remove the electrical connectors, mine did not budge.
Nor did the picture look at all like my steering column... took a while
(and a trip to Sears to get a 24mm socket) to realize that I needed to
pull the MOMO hub adapter off before following the instructions in the
Bentley ... &:-)
It is too bad the local dealer parts dept. is closed today or I might be
able to drive this car tomorrow!
Thanks again for all your help and suggestions! Let's hope I don't need to
ask for pointers on the reassembly...
