Cost of Timing Belt

Well I just did mine on my 89 90q 2.3 I5. Not a turbo but I believe
most, if not all, of the parts are the same. I purchased the following
parts from my local parts place. They are probably all less at
www.thepartsconnection.com but I needed them that day as my waterpump
failed and started gushing coolant.
Timing Belt 18.00
Water Pump 50.00
Idler pulley 50.00
Front Crankshaft oil seal 4.50
Front Camshaft oil seal 4.00
Power steering, AC, Alternator belts 18.00 (approximately 6.00 each
belt)
So about 150.00 in parts and I would guess about 4 hours for a shop to
do it at 80.00/hr (most non-dealer european specialty shops) would be
around 470.00.
That price can go up or down depending on the hourly rate of the shop
and if they want to mark up the parts.
This is also a good time to replace the thermostat (I did, about 15.00)
and other coolant hoses if they are original or just old.
HTH,

Subject: Cost of Timing Belt
My timing belt is about to go . . .
what do you think it would cost to have a time belt done on
an 89 Audi 200 Turbo, NonQ, Autom ??
To have it done right by a top rate mechanic?
Thanks - Cat
