I'll second that. The V8Q, with 300K uses 2 every 5K. And the 4KQ with 190K uses one every 3K. Doesn't seem to affect anything. 
 
As a side note, the 5KTQ with 200K+ burns none. Curious?

I suppose that depends partly on how many miles are between those oil 
changes - 3k? 10k?

My '82 coupe has used a quart in 5k or so for over a hundred thousand 
miles, and still seems to run fine.
