Replacing windshield antenna with fender mounted Antenna

Note that the Audi power antenna is a PITA. I have one on my '94 S4. Good
reception, but unless you routinely clean the mast (and that means every
time you retract it), the mast eventually jams up. I'm on my third mast and
I now remove and lube it twice a year and wipe it every time I retract it -
that seems to extend it's life. If you want to install a power antenna, try
to get a different model that uses a stainless steel mast, not the chrome
plated brass one Audi uses.

SJ,
Audi had a TSB covering exactly that problem. It listed all the components
necessary for installing a power antenna on the rear ¼ panel. You might
want to seek out your friendly local dealer for a copy.
