Replacing windshield antenna with fender mounted Antenna

I put a rear fender mounted non-power (although it does go up and down) 
antenna on my 89 80.  I don't recall which radio it had (Wiesbaden comes to 
mind, I've since changed the radio to a aftermarket CD player) but it did 
have diversity tuning.  They make an adaptor (available at Circuit City) to 
let you plug a regular antenna into a Audi radio.  I just left one of the 
two antenna inputs empty, and plugged the adaptor into the other 
input.  Worked much better than the old dual antenna system.
